Kannawidan was first introduce on January 2008 by vice governor Deogracias Victor "DV" Savellano. Its aim is to preserve the culture of Ilocano. The first day of it was a Misa Conselebrada, to thank God for all the blessings that He gave to us.There is also a trade fair beside the capitol of Ilocos Sur, which displays the different products of Ilocos Sur called "one town, one product".
Have you notice the different activities during Kannawidan Festival?You may say or I may say that it was boring but like what I said they do it just to preserve our culture. It is slowly vanishing because of the technology today. We must help them to preserve our culture.
During the festival there are some artist who were invited by our Vigan government just to make the viewers entertained. There are also contest in singing and dancing , many of us watch, even though it takes a long time. They don't mind even if is already cold and they don't have their sit just to watch and just to see their idols in person.
